Farm Info
Coffee farming has been present in the history of the Aguiar family
for over a century. Since 1860, it originated in Santo Antônio do
Amparo, southern Minas Gerais. Mr. Edmundo Coutinho Aguiar, was
one of the pioneers in coffee cultivation in the Cerrado Mineiro
region in the 1970s and serves as their greatest inspiration.
Situated in Patrocínio/MG, Semente Farm had its first plantation
established in 1988 (22 hectares) by “Seu Ed”. Nowadays, the farm
spans 300 hectares of coffee and an experimental field with over
20 cultivars under study.

In 1991, Ed and his wife Candida, transferred control of Semente
Farm to their youngest daughter, Virginia Coutinho Aguiar Siqueira,
who was 22 years old at the time.
Virginia developed a passion for coffee farming and gradually replaced pasture areas of the farm
for coffee plantations. This love has been passed down through generations, and today, Semente
Farm is managed by Virgínia and two of her children, José Lucas and Maria Vitória the 9th
generation of coffee farmers in their family. Their work is driven by their love for coffee.
Since 2018, they have been working diligently on improving the structure and production of
specialty coffees:
Conducting quality mapping before harvest to separate and ensure the best lots of the crop.
Implementing good post-harvest practices and traceability measures to guarantee positive and
safe results.
Conducting tests and experiments throughout the harvest to achieve increasingly better results
and discover new sensory notes.
Evaluating all lots through cupping performed by a Q-grader.
