Asociacion de Productores de Cafe Ecologico Regional Larecaja (APCERL)

Founded in 2001 by 120 coffee growers, APCERL has helped shape Bolivia’s specialty coffee story. Their breakthrough came in 2003 with an 85.78-point score at Tasting the Peak of the Mountain, followed by their first organic exports to the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States in 2006. Today, they remain a benchmark for quality and sustainability.

APCERL’s seven member communities farm within the subtropical valleys of Madidi National Park, producing coffee under diverse shade canopies that protect one of Bolivia’s richest ecosystems. Organic certified since 2002 and Bird Friendly® certified by the Smithsonian Institution since 2014, the association views coffee as a tool for conservation—supporting biodiversity, creating wildlife corridors, and providing a sustainable livelihood within protected landscapes.

Cherries are hand-harvested, pulped the same day, fermented for 12–18 hours, then washed and carefully dried to preserve clarity and sweetness in the cup.

More than anything, APCERL is defined by the experience of its producers and their long-term commitment to environmentally responsible coffee cultivation.
