about this farm community

Some 25km east of Yama is the village of Pelon. The coffee grown there is a
mix of Paca, Caturra and Catuai varetals. The same emphasis on quality is
applied here as in its sister farm, although the micro-climate results in a coffee
with quite a distinct profile. Special attention is given to environmental
initiatives with under-grade coffee being recycled for use as a natural fertiliser
& a water-reduction program to minimise water use in wet-processing.
The farmers’ coalition provides training for the local population to develop
industry expertise in the fields of cupping & quality control.
