UGANDA WASHED BUGISU AA MT. ELGON
Uganda’s finest Arabica coffees are grown on the ancient volcanic slopes of Mt. Elgon, an extinct shield volcano straddling the border with Kenya. Rich volcanic soils, cool mountain elevations, and abundant rainfall create ideal conditions for producing coffees with exceptional sweetness, structure, and depth.
Coffee is cultivated by thousands of smallholder farmers, many tending family plots where coffee grows beneath banana trees and alongside food crops in traditional agroforestry systems. Cherries are selectively handpicked, washed, and carefully dried to preserve the clean, vibrant character for which Bugisu is renowned.
Bugisu offers a distinctly Ugandan expression of East African coffee—full-bodied and balanced, with notes of dark chocolate, dried fruit, warm spice, and a refined wine-like acidity that lingers through a smooth finish.
